Womentum’s 4th Annual March Onward Featured in the Jackson Hole News & Guide

The article “March Onward’s celebration of women comes full circle” tells the story of Womentum’s 4th annual March Onward: A Celebration of Women.

This year’s event marked a special milestone celebrating the release of Womentoring alumna Lindsay Linton Buk’s new book, Women Shaping the West: Stories from Wyoming. A decade ago, when Buk first began this ambitious project, Womentum served as the nonprofit fiscal sponsor that helped bring the vision to life. Since that time,

Buk logged more than 15,000 miles, 600 rolls of film and hundreds of hours of interviews in documenting the tenacious spirit of Wyoming’s women, and along the way discovered how her own path would take her off trail. She is balancing a commercial photography business, her art and becoming a mother.

Women Shaping the West: Stories from Wyoming is part memoir, part storytelling, part photography book, and part creative process. It is a powerful portrait of over 25 extraordinary contemporary women showcased through in-depth narratives, over 100 medium-format film photographs, 20 historical vignettes of women throughout Wyoming’s history, including the state’s suffrage story, and Lindsay’s creative process to produce the project. The book is the final piece of her larger body of work, which also includes a podcast and a traveling photography exhibit.

Another story highlighted is the lasting community impact of last year’s March Onward event. With a focus on women in civic leadership, several attendees stepped more fully into public service following the gathering. Anahi Morillon and Antuanett Lopez became board advisors for St. John’s Health, Elisabeth Rohrbach joined the Teton County Library Board, and Alyson Spery—who served as a panelist—had recently been appointed to the Town Council. It’s yet another example of how March Onward doesn’t just spark conversation, but it inspires women to step forward and lead.
