On March 6, 2025, in the heart of Women’s History Month, Womentum hosted six female civic leaders for an open and honest conversation about the realities of women pursuing and serving in public office.
At Womentum’s March Onward panel, our speakers shared invaluable resources that guided them on their paths to leadership. From training programs to insightful reads, these tools can help anyone looking to step into civic engagement with confidence:
- Leadership & Training Programs
- To encourage Wyoming women to run for office, The Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus hosts an annual Leap into Leadership conference with leadership and campaign trainings and discussions every February in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
- The Young Elected Officials Network, a nonpartisan program of People For the American Way Foundation, is the first and only national initiative to provide a network of support to the newest generation of progressive leaders at every level of elected office.
- Vote Run Lead Action trains pro-democracy, anti-racist, and feminist women to address the long-standing underrepresentation of women in legislatures. As a nonpartisan but values-aligned and mission-driven body, Vote Run Lead Action advocates for key issues affecting women, amplifies our alumni’s accomplishments, and promotes and defends democracy.

As March Onward Panelist and Victor City Councilor Sue Muncaster’s said, “We need to let go of the myth of exceptionalism, imperialism, rugged individualism–the idea that you need to be some heroine to run for office.”
Along with that sentiment, our panelists are committed to being accessible to you—the community they serve. They welcome the opportunity to meet, share their experiences, and offer their insights to support and inspire future leaders. You can reach them at:
