Womentum Celebrates National Mentoring Month, Honoring the Power of Connection and Community Leadership

Teton County, WY — January is National Mentoring Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the powerful role mentoring plays in shaping individuals, strengthening communities, and creating lasting impact. Established in 2002 by MENTOR (formerly the National Mentoring Partnership), National Mentoring Month shines a light on the relationships that help people grow, lead, and thrive—often in ways that are informal, unexpected, and deeply meaningful.

At Womentum, mentoring is at the heart of everything we do. For more than two decades, Womentum has proudly served as Teton County’s premier mentorship organization, creating intentional spaces where women support one another through growth, leadership, and life transitions. Through Womentoring, our signature nine-month mentoring program, Womentum has connected more than 500 alumnae—mentors and mentees alike—fostering confidence, community, and collective impact across the region.

“What began as a seed of connection and curiosity has grown into a flourishing network of women leading with confidence, purpose, and heart,” said Womentum’s Executive Director Kristen Fox.

Mentorship doesn’t always look the way we expect. Have you ever:

  • Advocated for a cause?
  • Served as a volunteer on a committee or board?
  • Raised or helped raise a child?
  • Managed an employee?
  • Worked toward a healthier work-life balance while modeling that for others?

If so, there’s a good chance—you’ve mentored someone.

Mentoring is often quiet and relational. It happens in conversations, example-setting, encouragement, listening, and showing up. It’s believing in someone’s potential and helping them see it for themselves.

This National Mentoring Month, Womentum invites the community to reflect not only on how you may have mentored others—but also on who has mentored you. A teacher, colleague, parent, friend, neighbor, or supervisor. Someone who offered guidance, support, or belief when you needed it most.

January is the perfect reason to reach out to someone you haven’t connected with in a while. Express your appreciation. Share the impact they had on you. Make someone’s day.

Because mentorship matters—and together, we are stronger for it.
